Writing and Healing: Honoring New Orleans

New Orleans means so much to the Southeastern Louisiana Writing Project. Our annual New Orleans Writing Marathons have produced some of our best writing. It is where many of us discovered (or recovered) our voices as writers. Some of our teacher-consultants live in New Orleans, while some of us use the city as a great escape where we comb the French Quarter in search of writing inspiration. Our hearts are breaking as we watch the coverage of the storm's devastation and the tragic aftermath.

As a place to process our thoughts, I've set up this spot for my Writing Project buddies to post writings from our New Orleans Writing Marathons. This is an open invitation to teacher-consultants from across the nation who have ever attended a New Orleans Writing Marathon to check through your journals and post some of your best French Quarter memories.

To post a piece of New Orleans writing, email it to me at tcamond@cox.net. Send it as the body of the email or as an attachment. Include your name and your Writing Project.

Watch this blog for information on a "Virtual" New Orleans Writing Marathon that I'll be hosting in a few weeks.
